The water heater hasn’t worked in over a week, and I’ve tried since last Friday to find a plumber capable to work on the electric ignitor. Most plumbers are not willing to do such work because most don’t handle electrical issues on water heaters. Nevertheless, my fifth attempt at a search ended successfully, and I have found one that not only does the work but has also returned all of my phone calls.
I shouldn’t say has ended. I mean, he came out but now has to research the cost of replacing the malfunctioned part. I should know by tomorrow . . . I hope.
The third plumber wasn’t like the fifth, but he was an example of how the first, second and fourth were. He came out, diagnosed the problem, then proceeded to tell me that the warehouses where the parts are purchased were not open on the weekend. “We’ll give you a call on Monday with an estimate,” he finished. He never returned my call. Instead, I called his company in the late afternoon (Tuesday) and spoke with the secretary. She told me they had a plumber who specializes in “electrical disturbances” on water heaters (not the same plumber that came to my home—that guy was an estimator), but he was out on disability and wouldn’t return to work for another six weeks.
So now I wait for the fifth plumber to call me tomorrow, and I pray he won’t be like the third.
I continue to take cold showers which, much to my surprise, are not half as bad. There are some positives to taking cold showers: reduces puffiness under the eyes, evens out skin tone, and decreases capillary dilation. It’s true. Try a week’s worth of cold showers and you’ll see. It’s a cheap beauty treatment.
I’m not complaining about the lack of hot water. If you’ve read this post then you know where my beef is. The depth of my (dis)content is being plumbed as I sit writing, pondering over cold showers, plumber number five, and the price for hot showers again.
I wish I could fix the problem myself. Why won’t electricians handle this type of issue? I suppose I do want my hot water back if I continually ruminate over the issue.
Maybe a third week of cold showers would help.

Hi, Tylergant, it seems like you were facing problem with your water heater. Before, availing the plumbing services from Mike Diamond, I went through the same horrifying experience. These guys came like warriors and solved my mainline sewer – all in a jiffy. No wonder, they are the most reputed plumbing services in LA County that, I had ever met.
